Lansing says that "Visual art is the skillful presentation of concepts and/or emotions (ideas and feelings) in a form that is structurally (compositionally) satisfying and coherent. www.aristos.org/aris-04/lansing1.htm The limited edition prints pictured here explore photography as art. Whether they are pictures of people as they go about their daily routine of living, photos of animals interacting with their environment, or architectural pictures that investigate that aspect of man's creations. Like all disciplines, photographic art has its own set of challenges. In many cases, nature or wildlife photography for example, the photographer can't move the subjects about on the canvas as a painter might. They have to search for the exact spot where all of the elements in the given composition come together in a coherent form, concept/emotions, composition , and then pray for the lighting to be just right. Slip birds, butterflies, or reptiles into that scenario, and the challenges are monumental. But that is also what makes it such a rewarding medium within which to work! |

| When deciding whether to take pictures or not, I don't let weather make the decision for me. i may look at the weather report to see if it is going to be rainy or sunny, foggy or bright, cold or hot, but only to help me decide where and what kind of pictures I want to take. Not if I want to take pictures. |
