of the city of Corrientes in
Corrientes Province, Argentina.
These large flightless birds are native to South America
and a relative of the ostrich.

Tyrants are large American birds that catch insects on the
wing.

"Wattled Jacana"was a picture I took in the floating
islands and marsh that surround Iberá Lake in the Esteros
del Ibera. This is a large wetland bird that ranges from  
western Panama and Trinidad south through most of
South America east of the Andes.

between Mercedes and
Colonia Carlos Pellegrini,
Argentina. This road is generously described as a
secondary paved road. Suffice it to say that our nickname
for it is "
El Camino de Hades."

"Marsh Chicken"was a picture I took in the floating
islands and marsh that surround Iberá Lake in the

del Ibera. This giant wood rail remined me of a chicken
with the way it walked and foraged.

The chajás with chicks were on one of the floating islands
that surround Iberá Lake in the Esteros del Ibera. The
southern screamer is an easily tamed bird.

These chajás or southern screamers didn't seen to be
overly concerned when we approached them in the floating
islands that surround Iberá Lake in the Esteros del Ibera. It
could be because they have a large claw on each of their
wings which truly make the males fighting cocks.

The "Magpie" photo was taken in the National Park of
Iguazú on the upper circuit trail. They are a common sight
on the trails to the cataracts.

It was almost like this turkey vulture was posing on the
banks of the Alafia River in Florida. It got its name because
the adult's bald red head was thought to resemble that of a
male Wild Turkey.
