This picture of a "Caracara" was taken as it sat on the side
of highway 12 in Corrientes Province in Argentina. It was
guarding a road kill rattlesnake that it had found in the
middle of the highway. The crested caracara seen here,
although broad-winged and long-tailed, is not a fast-flying
aerial hunter, but rather sluggish in the air and often
scavenges.

taken on the Hillsborough River in Hillsborough County,
Florida. There must have been between 10 and 15 nests
along this stretch of the river. The osprey is found on all
continents except Antarctica.
